What does a Montessori Secondary-level education look like?

My vision of the future is no longer of people taking exams and proceeding on that certification…but of individuals passing from one stage of independence to a higher, by means of their own activity, through their own effort of will, which constitutes the inner evolution of the individual.

   -- Maria Montessori

Fundamental Need:

  • To become an adult

  • to practice independence

  • to build a community

  • to develop adaptability

  • to become skilled with ambiguity

  • to connect with nature

  • to learn from authentic work with a                curriculum that is collaborative,           interdisciplinary, learner-centered,                           project based

Montessori at the secondary level  is known for its carefully-designed experiences and curriculum, tailored to the developmental needs of the adolescent. It's goal is to prepare the young adult for real life, with the ability to adapt and problem solve, and to accept the challenges of the 21st century as a successful and empathetic citizen of the world.
